Assumption:

a) ( Present / Future ( S + should + V1 )

- آپ کو دوسروں کی تذلیل نہیں کرنی چاہیے۔
- You should respect every one.
- آپ کو چاہیے ہر ایک کا احترام کریں۔
- Should I buy that book?
- کیا مجھے وہ کتاب خریدنی چاہیے؟
- Should I not do this next?
- کیا میں یہ کام آئندہ نہ کروں؟
b) ( Past active ( Should have + 3rd verb )
- You should have replied to him positively.
- آپ کو چاہیے تھا کہ اس کو مثبت جواب دیتے۔
c) ( Past Passive ( Should have been + 3V )
- He should have been treated well.
- اس کے ساتھ حسنِ سلوک ہو نا چاہیے تھا۔
- The injured should have been given first aid.
- زخمی کو طبی امداد دی جانی چاہیے تھی۔
- The little children should not have been left alone.
- چھوٹے بچوں کو تنہا نہیں چھوڑنا چاہیے تھا

Different use in English Grammar
a) { Should + S + 1st Verb } ( Simple Present )
- Should you go to the market, bring a good book for me.
- اگر آپ بازار جائیں تو میرے لیے اچھی سی کتاب لے آنا۔
- Should you go to offer pilgrimage do remember your country in your prayers.
- اگر آپ حج پر جائیں تو اپنے ملک کو دعاؤں میں ضرور یاد رکھنا۔
- Should you see your father pay my compliments to him and request to pray for me?
- اگر آپ اپنے والد صاحب سے ملیں تو ان کو میرا سلام اور دعا کے لیے گزارش کر دینا۔
( نوٹ : یہ بھی یاد رکھیں کہ Should کو جملہ کے شروع میں لگایا جاتا ہے)
b) ( Present perfect ( Should + S + have + 3v )
- Should you have finalized your meeting, let me know about it immediately.
- جب آپ اجلاس طے کر لیں / کر چکیں تو مجھے اس کے بارے فوری اطلاع دینا۔
- Should the poor have been helped with food and money?
- کیا غریبوں کی خوراک اور نقد رقم کے ساتھ مدد کی جانی چاہیے تھی
Use of Should:
Should have + 3rd form of the verb :
a) ( Past conditional Active) :
( S + had + 3V. S + should have + 3V )
- If he had invited, you should have attended his marriage.
- اگر اس نے دعوت دی تھی تو آپ کو اس شادی میں شرکت کرنی چاہیےتھی۔
- After you had been phoning, he should have morally joined you that day.
- آپ کے فون کرتے رہنے کے بعد اس کو چاہیے تھا کہ آپ کے ساتھ اخلاقی طور پر شامل ہوتا۔
b) ( Passive Past ) :
- He should have been arrested before strike.
- اس کو ہڑتال سے پہلے گرفتار کر لینا چاہیے تھا۔

معانی : کہیں ایسا نہ ہو کہ، مباداکہ ، خدانخواستہ ، یہ نہ ہو کہ ، اس خوف سے کہ ، اس ڈر سے کہ، اس اندیشہ سے کہ
(اس طرح کے جملے کا وہ حصہ نافیہ ہو تا ہےجس میں Should کو استعمال کیا جائے۔ یاد رکھیں کہ
اس حصہ میں no یا not لگانے کی ضرورت نہیں ہے۔ اس طرز کے جملوں کو زمانہ حال اور
ماضی میں زیادہ استعمال کیا جاتاہے۔)
( Present )
- We pay the bill by fixed date lest we should pay more money as surcharge.
- اس اندیشہ سے کہ ہمیں زیادہ رقم بطور جرمانہ جمع نہ کروانی پڑجائے، ہم مقررہ تاریخ تک بل ادا کر دیتے ہیں۔
( Imperative Sentence in Positive Sense ):
- Keep her at arm’s length lest she should bring some harm to you.
- اس سے ذرا بچ کے رہنا ، اللہ نہ کرے کہ وہ عورت تمہیں نقصان پہنچائے۔
- Run fast lest you miss the train.
- تیز دوڑو کہیں ایسا نہ ہو کہ گاڑی سے رہ جاؤ۔
- Walk carefully lest you should slip / fall.
- احتیاط سے چلو مباداکہ پھسل / گر جاؤ۔
- Work hard lest you should fail in your interview.
- محنت کر و یہ نہ ہو کہ انٹرویو میں فیل ہو جاؤ۔
Use of Lest should in Negative:
In this section, you will learn the use of lest should in negative sentences.
( Imperative Negative ):
- Don’t keep water open lest it should have germs.
- پانی کو بغیر ڈھکے مت چھوڑو ایسا نہ ہو کہ اس میں جرا ثیم پڑ جائیں۔
- Don’t eat stale things lest you should fall ill.
- باسی اشیا ء مت کھاؤ کہ خدانخواستہ بیمار پڑ جاؤ گے۔
- Be alert all the time lest you should have a loss.
- ہر وقت محتاط رہنا کہیں یہ نہ ہو کہ نقصان اٹھا لو۔
( Present passive ): ( Lest….should be + 3V )
- Come back at once lest you should be seen.
- فوراَ واپس آجاؤ ایسا نہ ہو کہ دیکھ لیے جاؤ۔
( Simple past ( active ):
- He caught the branch of a tree lest he should fall into the river
- He worked day and night lest he should fail.
- اس نے دن رات محنت کی تاکہ وہ فیل نہ ہو جائے۔
- She hired a taxi lest she should miss the train.
- اس نے ٹیکسی کرائے پر لے لی تاکہ گاڑی سے نہ رہ جائے۔
Use of Lest Should:
( Simple past passive) ( Lest…should be + 3V ):
- She ran fast lest she should be caught.
- وہ تیز بھاگی اس خوف سے کہ وہ کہیں پکڑی نہ جائے۔
- He hid himself in a cell lest he should be shot dead.
- وہ تہ خانے میں چھپ گیا اس ڈر سے کہ اسے گولی نہ مار دی جائے۔
- Be alert all the time lest you should have a loss.
- ہر وقت محتاط رہنا کہیں یہ نہ ہو کہ نقصان اٹھا لو۔
( Past Perfect Passive ):
( S + had + 3V + O, lest + S + should have been + 3V )
- The advocate had given many cogent arguments lest he should have been defeated in the case by his opponents.
